Default 1967-1971 Chevy truck

I hope this is in the right section.

Did chevy put a diesel motor in the 1967-1972 chevy pickups? If so, what?

If not, has anyone ever put a chevy diesel motor(the dura max would be cool) in a 1967-1972 chevy (single cab short bed) pickup truck? Does anyone know what motor mounts to use or transmission? Does anyone have information for me, links, websites, please?
Thanks, david

to my knowledge, only gas engines were available for these years... I love that body style myself too. My first truck was a '72. rcsb fleet... if someone got one and put a duramax in it that would be sick.

Hey guys,
Chevy started using diesel motors in 1982 or 1983. Has anyone put a diesel motor (duramax-any diesel) in a 1967-1972 chevy truck? I want to do this, but I need more information...

I have considered building a 1967-72 C30 dually and installing a mechanically injected 6.5L turbo diesel or a 6.2L non turbo. This would probably be the easiest diesel engine to install. There shouldn't be any issues with fitment. A duramax or cummins would be the ultimate machine IMO though.

VortecSierra,
Do you have any information on the conversion? Do you know of a 1967-1972 converted diesel truck that exist?

Sorry, I don't know of any. A search might reveal if it has been done. I believe that the motor would mount the same as a big block engine. I used to have a complete take out engine from a 93 2500 chevy. It was complete with turbo and fuel system. We sold all the turbo and fuel system, but I still have the old long block to test fitment with some day. I think a half ton would be awesome for fuel mileage and would have plenty of power with the low end torque. The modified 6.5L turbo diesels can put out hp/trq. numbers similar to a STOCK duramax. Check out a swap for an el camino in the link below.
