Oil pressure goes up when accelerating...Y???

Question Oil pressure goes up when accelerating...Y???

06 SSS... ok so this started happening after i installed my LT's, the pressure goes up when i accelerate it but it stay level at idle. has anyone else ever experienced this or know what maybe causing it???

Uh, it's supposed to increase with higher revolutions.

Your oil pressure will rise as the RPMs rise, the more the engine turns the more the oil pump pushes through more oil.(causing a rise in pressure) It's normal.

Now you may have added too much oil your last change causing too much oil pressure but you didn't say you had an issue after an oil change though.

Really??? even stock or after header install??? cuz i had never noticed it before and probably went have noticed it if my buddy that helped me put them in hadnt seen it while i was driving back from the exhaust shop.

As said, that is very normal, nothing to worry about.

... and car enthusiasts wonder why newer vehicles have dummy gauges. Like some GM cars and their water temp gauge that reads 210 when warmed up, no matter if it is 180-230 degrees.

Cool thnx guys really appreciate the replys, im glad it is normal, as for the oil change i dont think i put too much (5Qt's), let me know if it was too much.

P.S. hey 12secSS would have been great to have u out at the G2G this sunday there was about 17 of us out there, check out the pics at the Western forum....

Yeah, it's normal. Should be as high as 60lbs at big throttle and just under 35-40psi at idle.

FYI, Most run 5 3/4-6 1/4 quarts of oil for 6.0s.
