Default positive traction

i was wondering what it would take to get posi in my truck but not spend a fortune on doing so. my friend 02 has it and i was wondering if i could get a newer style 10 bolt from a junk yard and swap it out. I have a 1997 GMC c1500 seirra. thanks

How much money are you talking about here? You can get a new trutrac for around $400

I don't see much benefit in getting a whole newer 10 bolt axle. There is not really much difference. I Can't remember what year they switched from 28 to 30 spline axles that would be about the only benefit and it isn't a huge difference.

ebay is about the cheapest I know of. Here it is with install kit. I believe you have the 30 spline axles.

Drivetrain Direct, Randy's ring and pinion and 4 wheel parts wholesalers all sell them competitively too.

if you aren't putting down much power, and are looking for a really cheap alternative, go on Ebay and buy a used G80 and toss that in. you can probably pick one up for 100 bucks.

That is an option just take it under advisement that the stock G80 has been known to explode on even stock trucks from time to time. I'm still running a stock G80 with my fingers crossed so if you can afford to get something better now that is always the best option.

Just remember you have an 8.5" and NOT a 7.625" big difference and ditto on the Trutrac also get a T/A cover with a stud kit for the caps.
