and that was the main reason i passed. Im sure the seller is a good guy, he posts on here alot. but bottom line is im not gonna buy something online from somebody without more info/pictures or at least a part#, unless ive met the person which is impossible online. OP i hope everything works out for you.. maybe take that one out sell it and put that money towards a trutrac, rons machining has great prices for new stuff..

If it's a true locker it'll grip GREAT in the snow going in straight lines. If you come up to an icy corner that's really slippery be prepared to come down to a CRAWL. I know sometimes when my G80 is locked and I go to steer, there's soo much traction in the back that it just continues to push the truck forward in a straight line. The inline traction is phenominal. Just be prepared to "accomodate" your driving style for the newfound inline traction and don't expect to whip around corners in the real icy stuff. Good luck on whatever it is you decide to do.

Here's what I've learned about this subject: The" Detroit locker" and "tru trac" was purchased by Eaton so the names are interchangable, same product. The locker is a brute, can take severe punishment and give max forward bite but has it's drawbacks on the street as mentioned. The tru trac is no slouch in strength but is less noise and better behaved on the street. The locker is more money but putting that in a 10 bolt seems like overkill.
I just order my narrowed Moser 12 bolt with an Eaton tru trac w/33 spline, can't wait.

The names are definitely not interchangeable. There are different part numbers, and they are completely different product lines. They don't even really look similar if you were to put them side by side.

And as far as I know, Eaton has owned detroit for awhile now.

All in all I just plan to use it for now, and throw it up for sale or trade for a trutrac, then I'll pull it out and ship it. I'm just mainly worried about the "slop" being hard on the trans and ujoints
