Default 2005 5.3 Avalanche Tune

Guys,
I am intersted in getting a little more power and fuel econ out of my avalanche. I have HP tuners and I am ok with tuning. My questions are:
What ar ethe bad areas on the 5.3 truck tunes that need work? MAF scaling?
Timing? PE mode?
I know every vehicle is different but I am sure there are known areas in the stock tune that can be improved.
My only mod is a K&N cold air kit.
The truck is obviously a daily driver and is used to pull our boat so I cant get to aggressive. with timing tables and TM.
Does anyone have any advice? Possibly a tune they are willing to share?
Thanks

First thing I would do is get rid of the K&N Hot Air Kit and replace it with a Volant with the scoop.

Take a look in the HPTuners tune repository. Work the VE and MAF tables to get your fuel trims to +-5, play with timing a bit as its very low stock just dont go crazy if you plan to tow. You can play with PE enable modifiers so that it will hit PE a bit sooner, stock thresholds are pretty high so you can bring PE in a bit sooner. Depends how crazy you want to get.

Thanks for the info. I didn't find much on the repository. What about tranny settings? Remove some tm and speed up the shift times? Anything else?
