How far can you bore/stroke a 5.3 Liter Iron Block
My buddy bought a 5.3 Liter Iron Block with Aluminum heads and is wondering what the max bore could be on this motor, and how much it can be stroked. Does anyone here know?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Hey Mike
The bore of the 5.3L block can be taken out to 5.7L specs of ~3.9"
I really don't know what the biggest stroke is that can be installed without clearancing the block but, it will accept any crank that you can put in an LS1.

I would think you could take it out to the 6.0 bore even. I think it's around 4.0. I don't have a clue about the crank. You may want to call Lunati or something about that.
Let us know though, cause I'm kinda interested myself.

No way you can go 4" without risking the big uh-oh. I would not be worth it anyway. You could pick up a new 6.0 block for the price it would be to bore. And it would be safer.

Hey Mike
Get in touch with Reckless turbows6@hotmail.com . He use to have a 5.3L block bored out to 5.7L. I don't know if he has it anymore but, he probably has some solid info about the 5.3L block.

ARE is the only firm I know that bored out the 5.3's a lot.
Reckless and NoOne both had 3.900 bore 5.3 setups.
Check with ARE guys like Wade or Barry.
